Welcome to World Diabetes Day – 14th November 2016
There are currently 415 million adults in the world with diabetes, with the proportion of people with Type 2 increasing in most countries. 46% of people are undiagnosed and 5 million deaths occurred in 2015/. Every six seconds, a person dies from diabetes.
And, every 20 seconds, a limb is lost as a result of diabetes- related amputations.
In the attached infographic from the IDF Diabetes Atlas (Seventh Edition 2015), we’ve added in the diabetic foot prevalence statistics with thanks to IWGDF data.
